Very fine Chinese export porcelain handled bowl with cover with dog finial, two reserves on the “ruby” ground with a domestic garden scene of a lady entertaining a little boy in opaque enamels from the famille rose(fencai) palette, c. 1730, Yongzheng reign, Qing dynasty, w. 17 cm, 6¾ in. 3.13204

 Madame du Barry, the last “favourite” of Louis XV of France (1743-1793), is known to have decorated one of her palaces with “ruby” ground porcelain. In the 19th century, when Chinese export porcelain started to be studied as an art form, this type took her name and became known as “Madame du Barry decoration”.

◆ 眾所周知,法國路易十五的最后一個“寵妃”柏麗夫人用“紅寶石”地的瓷器裝飾她的一處房子,當中國外 銷瓷做為一 個藝術形式被研究時,這一類型就借用了她的名字,叫做“柏麗夫人紋飾”。
