Goblets of similar form were manufactured in Europe (mainly in the North) as from the early 16th century in precious metals most of the times with an elaborate finial with affinity to the business or profession of the owner or even another symbolic meaning. Above all it projected an image of wealth and power in a Europe that was emerging from the dark ages.
